What is the DMCA?

DMCA stands for Digital Millennium Copyright Act. The DMCA is a law in the United States to protect content from being stolen, reproduced, misused, leaked, pirated, or otherwise distributed in an unlawful way.

If someone is sharing your content without your authorization, Takedown Digital can follow the official DMCA process to contact the responsible parties and ask them to remove the content.

This process works on many online platforms including social media, forums, search engines, streaming sites, and more. It is not always effective — but it usually is.

Deliberately misusing the DMCA or lying in a DMCA takedown request is unlawful. Possible consequences include fines, prosecution, lawsuits, and liability for financial damages.

Takedown Digital is not a law firm and we do not provide legal advice. We do provide content protection services, including full-service DMCA takedown management.
